Group 1, Week 2: waking up

This week, our group's objective was to identify a place that we might want to wake up in. There was a huge varitey of reasons for why we picked the sites we did, and the sites themselves were pretty varied as well - from the edge of a building's roof, to supermarket aisles, to the edge of park ponds. I chose the latter because i wanted to explore the natural qualities a city could offer. Here's my best photo - i added to it later on as well

I later decided i wanted to create a chasm and place my bed down in it, under the water. I wanted to try and create a barrier between the city and the space of waking, while still letting them intertwine. The busy city world is visible from the space, but somewhat removed from it. I liked the idea of taking the noise away from the city and seeing what you would be left with, and how our perception of the city may change if noise was no longer present. Seeing this world from below the site also creates a sense of separation and security.
